I commit to hands on
daily project management
I lead my team of subcontractors in the renovation of properties for sale or rental, and for owners requiring major or minor works. I have a long and successful record in obtaining all relevant consents (planning, listed building, licences to alter, party wall awards, building control approvals), and for employing skilled tradesmen, many of whom have worked with me for more than ten years. We maintain excellent relationships with professional advisers including structural engineers, party wall surveyors, draughtsmen, valuation surveyors, architects and conveyancing solicitors, some of whom I have instructed or assisted clients to instruct for years.
I am passionate about exciting design which complements efficient function. My most interesting challenges have been maximising small spaces – especially awkward kitchens and bathrooms
I commissioned a brilliant artist to paint a large wall as an African safari scene, shown at the foot of the Home page, to my design. I can commission and collaborate with her to create any scene for large or small areas.
I love restoring old building fabric – and always used skilled craftsmen. Examples include restoring stone work – such as a huge Portland stone curved staircase, cast iron banisters stove enamelled to new glory, and Georgian pine panelling stripped of two centuries of paint to reveal a gorgeous patina after patient waxing, matching old cornice and coving and finding original 1930’s oak flooring for perfect patching.
Equally I enjoy blending contemporary interiors harmoniously within old buildings.
Several projects pictured here, and others, have been for clients who live in other countries, and have rarely, or never, seen the property until some time after completion. This involves total trust between myself and my clients working together within busy schedules across time zones.
I am an experienced and discerning purchaser of materials, I prefer to supply directly, which allows me tight control of costs.
The testimonials here speak to my attention to detail, good budget management, and meticulous communication as the project develops, through to completion.
